Paramorefans.de: Going back in time a bit, could you tell us what your earliest musical memory is? Which was the first band that really moved your soul? What is the most memorable show that you have been to as a fan?

Taylor: My earliest musical memory is singing funny songs with my mom and dad when I was a toddler. We had a blast making up goofy songs. The first band that moved my soul was Switchfoot. At every stage of my life, their music and friendship has moved and challenged me. Incredible band and incredible people. The most memorable show I’ve ever been to was seeing mewithoutYou at Cornerstone in I think it was 2004. I’d never seen anything like it. Changed my life.

Paramorefans.de: What do you think has changed the most in personality or behaviour or view on life of the other bandmembers?

Taylor: I think as a band we’ve just learned how to really accept each other and embrace each other’s differences. I know we talk about that a lot, but it feels like we’re finally starting to get the hang of it, and it’s so exciting! We’re better friends than ever before. There’s more joy, love, and hope than we’ve had in years!

How do you feel about fan dedication like Paramore-related tattoos and fans traveling around to see you? What is your best fan impression you have ever got?

It means more than anyone will ever know. It’s honestly surreal. I just feel so blessed to be apart of this family! The dedication and sacrifice never goes unnoticed!

Every artist wants to express something, a kind of message with his music. Are there any topics, emotions or messages you don’t want to express with your songs? Why?

I think there are a lot of things we don’t want to express to people, but personally the idea of meaninglessness bothers me the most. Recently I’ve heard songs talking about the idea that essentially nothing we do on this earth matters and that there is nothing beyond this. Everyone is free to have their own opinions on this of course, but that always leaves me feeling sad and insignificant. I feel like there is enough in the world that makes us feel this way, and we don’t want to add to that. You matter and there is hope!

Can you imagine to mix your future works with different types of instruments or other kinds of music to create unusual new sounds?

We always want to try new things. I can imagine for days, but we’ll see what actually happens!

What was the craziest rumor you have heard about yourselves?

That we broke up. WHO EVER SAID THAT?!

What kinds of life dreams do you have left over beside your music?

Get married, have a family, and try and love people the best I can!

Do you wear clothing or jewelry or have always things on you that carry emotional value? What kind of things, which mean a lot to you are you always taking with you?

I don’t actually. I’m always scared to bring things of value with me for fear that I might lose them!

Whats positive or negative when you are playing in huge halls in the states or UK and then coming to countries like Germany and playing small clubs?

I’m not sure it’s really fair to list the positives and negatives of each honestly. They’re just different. We love them both equally. Different energy, different production, different fans. I think they both make each other special.

A lot of songs on Brand New Eyes are about your conflicts within the band and the hard times during 2007/08. How did you make it through this time and how did it change yourself? What have you learned by going through such hard times?

I think it was by the grace of God and by the overwhelming support and dedication of our fans. It was really hard, but we got through it thankfully. We’ve all grown up so much since then. I know for me personally, it made me much more understanding. People don’t always see things the way I see them. Actually, they hardly ever do hah! I think we’ve all learned how we love this Paramore family even more than we thought we did.

Do you believe that people are too ignorant with folk around them and rather should tell them immediately what they think, especially when they are friends?

Every situation is different. I’m struggling with this right now. Still trying to figure it all out, but I guess what I’m learning is simply to approach honesty in a loving manner. Be honest, if you feel it’s constructive, but there is always a tactful way to communicate that. I guess it’s up to all of us individually to figure out what that means. That’s my opinion.

If you could choose a movie character, who would you like to be and why?

Any character that Bill Murray plays because he’s the best at everything.

What stories (books, movies), humans (family, friends, stars) or events have strongly influenced your personality?

Everyone that is close to me strongly influences my personality. My parents, my brothers, my sister, my niece, my friends, my bandmates, my community. Everyone adds a little something to me, ya know? As far as stories?

Do you think that you are starting and leading a new age of bands? Like how you connect this rock style with plain values (family, simple lifestyle, …). Could this sort of band life be the successful future of rock music?

Well we certainly aren’t the first band to ever connect those two worlds, but I can only hope there are many more and that we can encourage other bands to stay true to what they believe. It’s definitely not the “cool” thing, but I don’t think it’s really about being “cool”. That’s not why we’re in a band, at least not anymore haha.
